A trilogy of utilities
Or should we call them "The three musketeers"?
Pinsites is a future proof web-hosting system. Gentle on your purse and extremely capable. It is quite different from what you may have seen elsewhere. Yet, extremely user-friendly!
We have three utilities in there: MarshBloom, SoupSet and BushFire
These three utilities can work together; or independently. Choose which one you would want to use. Each has a specifically different purpose so with all three; you have various ways by which you can host your website.
Each of them are downloadable utilities for computers running Windows. So there is not much work happening at our servers. Each of these three musketeers, has its own pricing system. This documentation covers all the three musketeers.
Why not online SaaS ?
We thought about it. But there are several advantage of standalone utilities that works as desktop applications. One is that you are naturally not distracted by other things happening on the Internet. Secondly, with SaaS applications you would need to register, login, remember passwords and then later on suffer through all kinds of emails such as a "friendly message from the CEO" and a litany of other appeals. We do not do such kind of marketing tricks. We truly want to support our user and be empathetic to their situation. We strongly believe cloying emails will not prove our empathy. If you do contact us (and we heartily welcome that) you will be quite sure we are indeed quite pleasant people to talk to and work with.
Why three utilities and not one integrated service?
We thought long and hard about this. Ideally we would have insisted all our users to go directly to the future of web-hosting: Which is surely serverless web hosting. But then we thought why exclude those users who have already invested in conventional web-hosting? By breaking up the functions that are needed by our users into three; we have simplified the process -- you simply choose the utility that serve your specific purpose.
Moreover, we are not catering to functionalities that are conventionally provided quite well by other companies. For example we do not make HTML editors or web designing software. We merely covered the gaps so that our users get a wholesome bang-for-the buck. Of course, you are always welcome to use ALL the three utilities and if you do so; Pinsites will be one powerful system for doing serverless hosting.
Here are the descriptions of the 3 musketeers in this trilogy
MarshBloom This is a collaborative peer-to-peer content generation system. You can distribute the work of generating rich HTML content for various parts of your website to several different persons. As many as you want. Thereby quickly getting all the contents written for your website! Such contents can be used to update/create your website and this utility can even be used for regular conventional web-hosting systems -- or you can use those contents along with the other utilities in this trilogy here to create your serverless website.
SoupSet This is essentially a simple front-end for the excellent soupault command line website generator. Using this you can easily integrate pieces of content and other HTML matter into templates of your website. The best part of it is that you can easily download any website you liked on the Internet, and use it for creating a template for your own website. Of course, you should NOT use it to steal other's design and graphics etc. You must acknowledge the previous author as that is the right thing to do. SoupSet can happily use the content produced by MarshBloom, and SoupSet''s own output can also be consumed by BushFire; if you so want. But if you do not want to use those utilities; you can even use SoupSet to generate a website that is hosted on a conventional web-hosting service. For example; you could be writing a PHP driven website. And SoupSet can generate content for that too!
BushFire With this utility, you can host all the website contents you have for a website into a serverless host; that rides on top of IPFS. BushFire does a lot of work. Including the heavy lifting of the complex set of processes. Otherwise you may have had to do a lot of cumbersome separate commands. As explained earlier; BushFire can integrate with the output of our earlier two utilities or even from other HTML editors/ HTML designers.
